About the Funky Ones
San Francisco’s Premiere Costume Party Proprietors Offer Face-Melting Melodies, Illustrious Artistry, and Remarkably Conspicuous Happenings.
The Funky Ones are a small batch event production team based in San Francisco, California. Each year we produce five unique and engaging costume parties as well as a registered Burning Man Theme Camp called Elephant Bird Camp.
Founded by Burning Man Special Events team members Graham McLeod and Eamon Armstrong in 2009, our community includes various musicians, artists and designers working together to create inclusive and detailed experiences using sophisticated decor, performance, and pageantry.
The flagship performance group for the Funky Ones is a whimsical electro-acoustic dance band called i can dress myself. We collaborate with other Bay Area musical acts based on the needs of each unique theme.
The highlight and culmination of our year is the Burning Man festival in Black Rock City, Nevada where we host a delightful live music camp, Elephant Bird Camp. In 2011, at the direction of Graham McLeod, we developed an official Mutant Vehicle, Grahama’s House, a beautiful lavender suburban home with a performance stage on top and a suburban grandmother’s home inside. Our 2012 project is a two stories gazebo made entirely of bottle caps by artists Max Poynton and Andrew Grinberg.
Please join us for an upcoming performance and if you feel a connection with our community please contact us about getting involved.
